The Côte d’Azur’s best places to drop anchor

In the summer, the French Riviera is a popular place to be because it has some of the best places to anchor and some of the best beaches and water. We’ve made a list of the best places to take your boat for the day because there are so many to choose from.

Plage Mala

Mala Plage is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Riviera and the best beach in Cap d’Ail. On the east end of this beautiful stretch of white sand and pebbles is the green Cap Mala, and on the west end are steeply rising cliffs. Since harbors are far away, the water is always clean. The best way to enjoy the Cote d’Azur is to relax in this half-circle of Mediterranean plants and look out over the clear, moving water. If you are anchored on a Saxodor 320 GTO and there are two great private beach restaurants, you may not want to leave.

Ville-Franche-Sur-Mer

On the French Riviera, you have to go to Villefranche-sur-Mer. This beach town is beautiful everywhere you look, from the old town to the deep blue sea to the lush green hills in the back. The beauty is definitely in the details, like the stairs made of cobblestones, the colorfully painted houses with shutters, and the hanging flower pots. Even though Villefranche isn’t very big, it’s the right size and shape.

You might just want to chill out, enjoy the beaches, sit in a café or one of the many great restaurants, and take in the beautiful views and fun atmosphere. Or, you might want to enjoy the French way of life, food, and wine, go shopping in the local markets, or enjoy the view from a Cat Tender 45 anchored in a green bay.

Cannes Islands

From its clear water to its royal fort, Sainte-Marguerite is a stop on the French Riviera that you can’t miss. You can spend a whole day there and still not see everything, but if you want to see both islands in one day, half a day might be enough.

The bigger of the two islands, Sainte-Marguerite, can be seen in a few hours. This island, which is surrounded by creeks with fine pebbles and flat rocks and clear water, is a great place to swim on the French Riviera and is very popular during the summer. In the south of the island, the beaches along the Maison Forestière are the most natural and have the best view of the Esterel, but they get too crowded in the middle of summer because of their popularity. More people don’t go to the Carbonel Creeks, which are further east. This makes them a good place to relax away from the summer crowds. But if you want to be even more exclusive, you should anchor off the islands on an Okean 55. To get the most out of this wild place, visit between June and September.
